Today, Kranich's Jewelers also specialize timepieces, custom jewelry, designer jewelry and much more. In recent years, Kranich’s has actively grown their ecommerce business (kranichs.com). Our History
1903
Kranich’s Jewelers was founded in York, Pennsylvania as Kranich Brothers Jewelers. The business eventually expanded with locations in York, Lancaster, and Altoona, Pennsylvania, as well as Worcester, Massachusetts.
1923
The Altoona store opened, marking the beginning of what would become the family’s primary location.
1962
Charles and Mildred Kranich were joined in the family business by their son, Michael Kranich, ushering in the next generation of leadership.
1976
Kranich’s expanded to Downtown State College, serving the growing Penn State University community.
1978
Following the passing of Charles and Mildred Kranich, Michael Kranich assumed leadership of the family business.
1990s
Michael Kranich’s sons joined the company, continuing the tradition as the third generation of family ownership.
2000
A new location opened in the Johnstown Galleria, expanding Kranich’s presence in Central Pennsylvania.
2012
Kranich’s opened a large, free-standing showroom on North Atherton Street in State College.
2018
The company’s new flagship showroom opened at Kranich’s Plaza on Plank Road in Altoona, creating a premier destination for fine jewelry and timepieces.
2019
Kranich’s expanded once again with the opening of a new free-standing location on Scalp Avenue in Johnstown.
